I saw a really cool technique on the May Arts and Paper Crafter's Library blog by Christina Colon to make ornaments using washi tape, some Modge Podge and some glitter. Here is the link Paper Crafter's Library featuring May Arts (the give-away is over).
Basically, you take washi tape in various patterns and colors and cover the glass or plastic ornament (which you can buy at Joann's, Hobby Lobby or Michaels). Next, coat it with Modge Podge and sprinkle glitter on it before it dries. After that was dry, I put on a coat of Glazing Medium to seal the glitter on. I laid it on a piece of wax paper on top of a shot glass so that it wouldn't stick to anything.
I also tried watering down some Modge Podge so that I could spray some inside of the glass ornament and then add glitter to the inside. You have to roll and turn the ornament around to coat the inside of the ornament. I think I had watered down my Modge Podge too much (about 1/2 and 1/2) because it was really runny and I had to pour some of the glue/glitter mixture out. I let it sit for a day or so with the cap off to be sure it was completely dry. I'm sure there's a tutorial on You Tube somewhere, but I just wanted to try it myself. I did this with my 6 year old grandson. He thought it was pretty cool! There's the glitter inside with nothing to fall off! Have fun!
