Graduation Time

The oldest grandson was graduating and I needed some ideas for a card. I found inspiration on Pinterest Here. I copied by sight almost exactly, except I did not add the little rolled up diploma. I looked on You Tube for a tutorial on making tassels and found a good one Here. It is made with embroidery floss. She used a small fork in her tutorial. I used a larger serving fork to come up with the size of tassel that I wanted.

I used the Long Strip die set from Scrapbook.com to cut the red stripes on the graduation gown. The sentiment is from Hero Arts. I stamped it with Versa Clair Nocturne Ink and then added WOW Clear Embossing powder to heat emboss it. The sentiment strip was die cut with a set from My Creative Time.

Tulips for Mary

My daughter asked me to send a card to her husband’s grandma who is turning 90, so I found a free digital card that I had printed from Altenew and started coloring it with Copics. I outlined the flowers with a very pale blue Copic marker. This digital had Hello on it for the sentiment, so I grabbed my Altenew Label Love and stamped the sentiment with Versa Clair Nocturn and heat embossed it with clear embossing powder. Some Clear Wink of Stella was added to the flowers. You can kind of see it in the second picture.

The yellow mat and the mat for the sentiment were both die cut with Kat Scrappiness Zig Zag Rectangle dies.

Dog Wood Flowers

One of my sisters’ birthdays is this month. I had previously made similar birthday cards for another sister, my aunt and some friends using tea bags to make the backgrounds and they really enjoyed them, so here’s one more, with a slightly different layout. I picked the dogwood flower because they remind me of my mom.

The background stamp is from Unity. The Dogwood flower stamp is a woodblock stamp from Inkadinkadoo (closed). I colored the flowers with Kuretake Zig Real Brush pens and blended with a bit of water. I highlighted the flowers with a white pencil and then added some brown Wink of Stella to the centers.

The Treble clef die cut is from CAS-u-al Fridays (now closed).

The tiny bee stamp (Lavender Bundle) and the Sentiment stamp (Friendly Messages) are both from Hero Arts. I mirror stamped the bee to get an opposite image and added some gold Wink of Stella to the bees wings and added eyes with a silver pen.

The sentiment strip was die cut using a set from My Creative Time. The flower image was die cut using My Favorite Things Pierced Oval Stax dies. The lace is from Really Reasonable Ribbon.

Woodblock Wednesday

I had seen this Magenta Holly stamp from a previous Woodblock Wednesday (thanks to Karen)  and I really liked it, so I found one on Ebay.

I decided to color the image with Polychromos pencils. I have a set of 24 so my color choices are a bit limited. I would have liked a darker green. I guess I could have colored with alcohol markers first, then add highlights with the pencils, but I had already colored most of the image when I thought of it. Its hard to see in the picture but I did add some clear Wink of Stella for some sparkle.

The plaid paper is from Memory Box. I couldn’t decide on a sentiment and where to add it so this card is done for now. The color in the picture isn’t very good.
