A Little Moody

When I was a preteen, they came out with Mood rings. They changed color with changes in body and/or air temperature. There was some sort of key that told what your mood was based on the different colors the ring would turn. This sentiment makes me chuckle because I remember those mood rings and all of the hype about them, when I guess we should have just paid more attention to people’s faces.

Dragon Wishes

Like I said in a previous post, January and February are very busy birthday months for my family and friends. I needed several masculine cards. I decided to go for the dragon theme on this card. I love using die cuts on my cards because I don’t have to worry about coloring the image. While I do enjoy coloring, using die cuts gives me a nice break. The gold panel was die cut using a Kat Scrappiness Stitched Rectangle Zig Zag die. The dragon was a cheap die I found on Amazon and the sentiment was die cut with A sentiment set from My Creative Time.

Boy Birthday Card

I was struggling to make a card for a 6 year old boy. He likes a lot of things, including fighting dinosaurs and dragons. I love to use die cuts on cards and I found these dies on Amazon. I die cut one in dark green card stock and one in black card stock. I adhered them on a piece of gold foil card stock and then mounted that on black card stock. The sentiment stamp is from Sweet and Sassy Stamps.

Fun Critter Shaker

I had so many birthday cards to make in January & February. I was happy to find the rainbow background I had made a few years ago to use for one of my granddaughters cards. I had bought a kit of pre-embossed white card stock pieces years ago. (It might have been Fancy Pants or Pink Paislee but I’m not sure). I used Tim Holtz Distress Crayons to color the background. The rectangle strip that the images were stamped on was die cut using a die from My Favorite Things MINI slimline card set. The critter stamps are from Taylored Expressions and colored with Copics. I added a strip of pink card stock under the critters and adhered the strip to the panel. The sequins are a mixture of Pretty Pink Posh collections. I used a piece of packaging plastic to cover the entire panel and fastened it all along the background panel before adhering the whole shaker panel to a card front.

Woodblock Wednesday

I’m still using some of the teabags I saved to stamp backgrounds on. I had made this background using Unity Worn Music Background stamp a few months ago. I needed a card for my aunt who used to be involved in primitive camping/rendezvous and loved arts, music and refurbishing antiques. I decided to use this background, not only because she would like it, but also because I had rotator cuff repair surgery and only have one arm I can use. Having pre made backgrounds for card making is so helpful when you are in a hurry or medically compromised. I had already stamped the Dogwood flower image before surgery, so I just had to color it with Copics. It is a woodblock stamp from Inkadinkadoo. My mom (my aunt’s sister) loved dogwood trees. We had one in the backyard of our family home. It was white. There was a dogwood tree across the street that was pink that I always admired, so I went with pink. The Clebel tref die is from  Cas-ual Fridays (out of business). I added a piece of homemade washi tape made using a napkin below the lace (can’t really see in the photo). Lace is from Really Reasonable Ribbon. I thought about trying to stamp a sentiment and die cutting a sentiment strip, but it’s just too hard right now. I wrote her a note but didn’t write on the card itself so that she can use it to send to someone else if she wants.
