August Birthday

I was having a hard time coming up with ideas for my daughter’s birthday card, so I turned to some challenge blogs for help. One blog that I like to keep up with is the
Group of Seven Card makers. They come up with or find techniques to try. It is not a “challenge blog”, therefore there are no winners. It’s just a place to learn and share what you’ve learned. There is a link below to the post about the technique I tried here, which is ink blending over heat embossed images with water lifting.
The background and the sentiment stamp are Hero Arts.
I used WOW white embossing powder, heat embossed the image and then ink blended with Distress Oxides (Faded Jeans, Seedless Preseves and Worn Lipstick). I then used a water color brush on some of the outlined images, causing the Oxide inks to mellow and turn an opaque whitish color. Once done with that, I heat fixed the background and then added some Clear Wink of Stella to a few of the flowers. The panel was trimmed down and adhered with foam tape over some navy card stock and some blue ribbon. I die cut the sentiment banner 3 times (Hero Arts), stamped the sentiment with white pigment ink on one of them and Clear Heat embossed it. The 3 banners were then glued together.
I die cut a sprig of leaves (Spellbinders) using white cardstock and added it to the left bottom side and then added the sentiment banner over it. Some clear bling/gems were added for more sparkle. I used a sketch from Freshly Made Sketches #601, but I’m not entering in their challenge.

Here’s a closeup, trying to show the sparkly Wink of Stella on a couple of the flowers.
