Peaceful Penguins

I’m playing along in another Woodblock Wednesday with these adorable penguins from Hero Arts. I decided that the peaceful little family would make a nice holiday card. I love seeing the penguins at the zoo or the aquarium. They are so quirky and fun!
I inked up the edges of a piece of blue card stock with some Chipped Sapphire Distress Ink (not Oxide). I used some WOW Embossing Ink to stamp the image and the Unity Stamps sentiment and used some Platinum embossing powder to heat emboss them. I used a brush and some white ink to add some spatters to look like snow and mounted the panel on a piece of MFT Silver Foil card stock. This may be this year’s Christmas card.

Summer Birthday

I decided to try my NBUS Memory Box’s Dazzling Seashells 3D Embossing Folder and Matching Dies. I used regular 65 lb. cream colored card stock. I should have used water color card stock, since I used my Zigs to color them. They were a little flimsy, but they turned out ok. I also added some Clear Wink of Stella to the shells. The printed card stock (including the image) is Authentique Fresh Collection. I love the colors and these vintage images! They remind me of my mother. She always had a hat on when we were by the beach or on a boat, and that was before we really knew about melanoma and how badly the sun can age our skin. The sentiment is from My Creative Time and was stamped with Memento Lady Bug ink. The ribbon is from Really Reasonable Ribbon and the gems are from my stash.

A few Challenges

I printed an Altenew Free Coloring Sheet onto water color card stock and got out some pink, purple and green Zig markers to go with the July Altenew Challenge. I’m still getting used to watercoloring with Zigs and forget how vibrant they are. The pink flower is a bit darker than I wanted it to be because I put down too much color, but I still think these flowers are lovely. The stamens have some Diamond Stickles for some sparkle. I added a different sentiment for a birthday and some mini gems to dress it up.
