Ink Blending on Dark Card stock

I saw this technique on the Group of Seven Cardmakers blog and had to try it. I tried a few colors, but this was my favorite. I used Blueprint Sketch Distress Ink on some navy cardstock, and added Hickory Smoke on the edges.

This sweet image is from Hero Arts, heat embossed with silver embossing powder. The sentiment is from Unity Stamps, also heat embossed. I spattered some Tattered Angels Glittermist.

CAS Birthday

I die cut some lilac card stock with a Simon Says Stamp stitched rectangle die and used a little Distress Ink on the edges. The black floral frame was die cut from a Birch Press Design die. The sentiment stamp is from My Creative Time.

Daisy or a Pansy?

I’m sharing one more woodblock stamped card. I bought this stamp when I first started coloring with markers. It’s a nice sized flower with big chubby petals to practice shading. This is a Hero Arts stamp called Daisy Style. For some reason, it reminds me of a pansy.
I stamped the images with Nocturne VersaFine ink and clear heat embossed them. Zig Big Brush markers were used to watercolor the flowers. I went back and added the darker brushstrokes on the petals for some interest. I added some black dots in the background to fill in the spaces. The Hero Arts sentiment was stamped with white ink on black card stock and I added white embossing powder to make it stand out. It was cut using a My Creative Time banner die and popped up using foam tape. A few gold gems were added for some bling.

Wishing

Here’s another card using some Hero Arts woodblock stamps. Many years ago when my kids were young, I started collecting woodblock stamps to use for craft projects. I’m not sure how many I have, since many of them are in a storage container, waiting to go through.

For this card, I ink blended some Distress inks on a white card base. I stamped the image and sentiment with Nocturne VersaFine Clair ink and added a few gold gems from my stash.

Simple Things

It’s time for another Woodblock Wednesday. I did some ink blending with some Distress inks on a tag, then stamped the pineapple. The sentiment was stamped with Memento Bamboo Leaves ink and clear heat embossed. I trimmed the top of the tag off to make it smaller and inked the edges with the same ink. A few Queen and Co. gems were added, as well as some Trendy Twine on the tag. Both stamps are from Hero Arts.

Lovely Lemons

I saw the inspiration photo over at the Double “D” Challenge and had to make something. It’s summer-time for a big glass of lemonade!

I used Avery Elle Funny Faces dies to die cut the lemons and leaves from colored card stock. I used some Mustard Seed Distress Ink to shade the lemons. Some dots from a white gel pen added some texture to the lemons. Foam tape pops the lemons off of the tag. The white flowers are from my stash. I colored the centers with a Copic marker to look like lemon blossoms and added gems to finish off.

The tag was die cut using a Hero Arts Nesting Tag die. I added Mowed Grass Distress Ink on the edges and also used it for the sentiment from the corresponding A.E. Funny Faces stamps. The twine was a freebie from an online store.

Repurposing old CD’s on a Card

I thought that it would be fun to use a CD on a card for my teenage grandson. Although they are being replaced by iTunes and other app based music, people still know what they are. I had to make this a 6 x 6 card in order to fit some stamping on the card with the CD. The patterned paper is from Honey Bee Team Tie-Dye 6 x 6 pad. I used my NBUS Love Notes Stamp and Die Set from CAS-ual Fridays (store is closed) to die cut the Treble Clef, Musial note and to stamp the musical notes and heat embossed with clear embossing powder. The sentiment is from Stampendous, also heat embossed with clear embossing powder. It’s hard to tell, but I had used embossing ink on black card stock and embossed with clear embossing powder, then die cut the treble clef and music note from the embossed card stock for a little more definition. The CD is popped up with some foam tape.
