My grandson graduated from 8th grade. It was such a strange year with remote learning, minimal socializing, their trip to Washington D.C. canceled. He did go back to in-class learning after their spring break. They had a graduation ceremony outside at one of the high school’s football fields. It was a beautiful day and helped the kids feel some normalcy and hope for the future.
My craft room is still under construction, so it’s a bit difficult to find specific dies and stamps that are packed up in the basement, but I found these (actually, I just bought the Honey Bee stamp set that the sentiment is from). The NBUS (Never Before Used Schtuff) grad hat is from Simon Says Stamp & the glasses die is from MFT Stamps. It came together quickly with some foam tape for the hat and some clear embossing powder for the sentiment. The sentiment was kind of a joke, because they didn’t have hats, only graduation gowns. I think that the school wanted to maintain social distancing and minimize a chaotic cleanup, since it was hosted by the high school and there were 4 middle schools having their ceremonies there that day. Tossing a graduation hat in the air at the end of the ceremony is a fun tradition that, unfortunately leads to chaotic searches for the hat. No hat was better than no ceremony.
