Slimline Birthday

Another birthday-another slimline card. I used a similar color scheme as the 1st slimline card that I made a few weeks ago. I love the Lotus flower stamp from STAMPlorations Lotus Love. I colored it with Zig Clean Color Real brush water color markers and added a bit of my trusty Clear Wink of Stella on the petals (it’s very hard to see in the photo). I used foam squares to adhere it. The slimline square scallop die is from Rubbernecker Stamps. The pink layer edge was cut using Pinkfresh Studios Slim Lacy Edgers die set. The little kaleidoscope embellishments were made using Spellbinders Small Die of the Month Kaleidoscope Trio. It’s hard to see in the photo, but I used some MFT Stamps Silver card stock for one of the layers in each of the embellishments. The sentiment is from STAMPlorations Baa Baa set and was heat embossed with some old school AC Zing Silver embossing powder.

Blue Ombré

I keep vowing to make more sympathy cards to have on hand, but let’s face it-it’s not as fun to make them as a Birthday, thinking of you, or a get well card, so this is the first extra one that I’ve made. I had stamped the image and sentiment and white heat embossed it a few months ago when making a card for a friend who lost her mom (not COVID). I have been trying to stamp extras when making a card, so that if I mess something up, I already have the extras as a backup, and if not used, I can use them later. I had this panel in my “use it later” pile, so all that I had left to do was some ombré ink blending with Distress Oxide inks in Blueprint Sketch, Faded Jeans and Tumbled Glass. I mounted it on some navy card stock to keep the card monochromatic.

Flower Power

Who doesn’t love the power of a flower? I especially love to color flowers. Here’s how this came together. I stamped and heat embossed the flower and the marble background (Love this background!) on separate water color papers, using Tsukinenko Versafine Onyx Black ink and Wow Clear Embossing powder. I love watching the embossing powder turn glossyas it heats up! I used Zig markers to water color the flower and leaves and then fussy cut it out. I used a white pencil to lighten the tips of the petals and leaves. The sentiment was stamped on the vellum banner and also heat embossed, using the same ink and powder. The marble background was trimmed down and mounted on dark pink card stock. The banners were adhered to the panel and the flower was popped up a bit, using a couple of layers of glue dots in the middle. I love the pink, green, black and white together.
