Difficult Color Combo

I love color challenges. They make a good starting point for a project. I saw an interesting color challenge over at Pinkfresh Studio. I don’t have any of their stamps, but I do have a few dies. I have to admit that this color combo was really hard for me to use together, therefore I was definitely challenged! I guess it was the pale pink (or was it the orange?) that threw me off. I used some modeling paste colored with Distress Oxide Spun Sugar ink to stencil a background panel, which I die cut down to a small rectangle. I used the NBUS Botanical Branch die to cut from dark teal card stock and again from orange card stock. I cut the berries from the orange die cut and added them to the teal die cut. I added a few pink pearl gems (Recollections) to the orange panel-I’m still not too sure about mixing some of these colors together 🤔

Sympathy Silhouettes

I needed a sympathy card. I wanted more of a masculine card, with a peaceful nature theme, so I took one of the alcohol panels that I had previously made and stamped the MFT Stamps Flower Silhouettes in Ranger Jet Black Archival ink. The sentiment is from Unity Stamps May Strength Surround You. I mounted the panel on black card stock and added a strip of black card stock, mainly to cover up some whiter spots of the alcohol ink panel.

Masculine Coffee Card

My brother told his that he was retiring 4 days before his last day of work. That didn’t leave me much time to make a retirement card for him! I had previously die cut the coffee mug card out of kraft cardstock, so I found a fun STAMPlorations stencil for the background and used Vintage Photo and Ground Espresso Distress Oxide inks. I had recently bought the pickup truck die set on sale from Spellbinders and thought that it would look good on the mug. I think that the bumper is upside down-oh well! The sentiment is from a different Spellbinders die set. The silver diamonds were leftover from This coverplate die. I had saved the pieces, thinking that they could be fun little embellishments.

Slimline Sweet Friendship

I jumped on to the slimline card craze. It offers a different canvas to fill. Here’s a card for one of my friends, who is still working at a fast paced laboratory as she turns 72! She has more energy than me and I’m more than 10 years younger than her-it’s got to be in her genes!

Die set: Rubbernecker Slimline Scallop die (Coffee Loving Super Sponsor)
I used the following stamps, colored with Copics and Zigs
Rose bouquet-Power Poppy Rose and Chamomile
Butterfly-Stamplorations Trendy Butterflies (Coffee Loving Cardmakers Super Sponsor-I drew a design on the small butterfly image)
Coffee/tea cup-Graciellie Designs Coffee Queen (Coffee Loving Cardmakers Super Sponsor)
Sentiment-was from a Polka Dot Orchard limited Edition digital set, Petals for the Pittmans set 2 (no longer available) (Coffee Loving Cardmakers Super Sponsor)

Thinking of Roses

I have some water colored tissue paper from a painting session a while ago. I used the Newspaper Background Stamp from My Creative Time on some yellow/cream colored card stock, then covered it with a piece of the water colored tissue paper, so it looks kind of like a stained, vintage newspaper. I attached the panel to a piece of kraft card stock. I colored the STAMPlorations Digital Heartfelt Rose with Copics, fussy cut it out and added some Vintage Photo Distress Oxide ink around the edges so it blended with the background panel. The coffee mug was die cut with STAMPlorations Zen Coffee Cup Layering dies. The intricate top die cut was cut using MFT Stamps Shiny Gold Foil card stock. I added the rose to the cup and adhered it all to the tissue covered panel. The sentiment was cut twice from STAMPlorations Thinking of You phrase die and I used spray adhesive to glue one on top of the other. I used the Distress ink on the edges of the die cut so it would blend with the rest of the card. I used Ranger Mounting Medium to adhere it to the card.

Seize the Coffee

I saw a fun coffee card that inspired me to make my card on Kathy Schweinfurth’s blog “Stamps at Play“.  I used my Simon Says Stamp Stitched Rectangle dies to cut out several of the layers. The coffee cup die is Paper Smooches Cuppa Sunshine (Never Been Used Schtuff-NBUS) and I paper pieced the different colors. The sentiment stamp is from STAMPlorations Coffeeology stamps, stamped with Versafine Vintage Sepia. The plaid paper is from Lawn Fawn Perfectly Plaid Spring pad. A few gems and a puffy heart (both Recollections) and my card is done.
