Make a Wish

It’s time for spring birthdays. I’ve been wanting to ink up
Lawn Fawn’s Upon A Star  stamp set. I made a water color tissue paper sky background by ink smooshing with Distress inks and water. After it was dry, I adhered it onto the white card base front. I used some Ranger embossing ink on the star constellations, then sprinkled some gold embossing powder over the images and heat embossed. I found my washi tape collection and applied some fun colors as diagonal stripes on the matte silver card stock. I then cut the panel with Simon Says Stamp Stitched Inside and Out Rectangle dies. I cut the circle window using Simon Says Stamp Stitched Circles Wafer dies. I adhered the panel with my Scotch ATG tape gun. I stamped the foxes on some white card stock with Memento Tuxedo Black Ink. For one of the foxes, I did shadow stamping so I could have a mirror image of the fox. I colored the foxes with Copics and added extra white to the tails with a white Sharpie. I also outlined the images with a black fine tip Sharpie marker. I die cut a sentiment strip with Kat Scrappiness Stitched Sentiment dies. The sentiment stamps (from the Upon a Star set), were stamped with Memento Bamboo Leaves, sprinkled with some Clear embossing powder and heat embossed. I used foam square adhesives to pop the strip up. Gold and pink hearts were added in the top right corner (hard to see the colors from the glare).

Embossed Rose

I decided to try the layered stamping and heat embossing technique for the Challenge over at CAS Mix Up April Challenge. There are some good video tutorials linked on the challenge post. I’ve been heat embossing for years, but have never tried layered embossing. I started out with a gray card base, which I dry embossed with an older embossing folder from Lifestyle Crafts. I die cut a white frame and a navy blue panel using the smaller Scalloped Rectangle die from Pretty Pink Posh. I used the smaller rose layering stamps from Altenew’s Bold Blossom and stamped the first layer with Ranger Embossing Ink. I covered the image with Rose Quartz embossing powder from Stampendous and heat embossed. I then used the top image to stamp more Embossing Ink over the first layer, covered that with American Crafts Zing Rose embossing powder and heat embossed. I didn’t like the way it looked so I used a Versamarker to hand draw some highlights, added more of the darker Rose Quartz embossing powder and heat embossed again. I’m not completely happy with it, but I had to have a finished card by today for a wedding shower so, I moved forward. I used some darker green powder after stamping the bottom layer of leaves with embossing ink and heated it. I then used some lighter iridescent green embossing powder from the Sparkle and Sprinkle store for the veins of the leaves. The sentiment was stamped using a stamp from My Creative Time, Memento Nautical Blue Ink and some Clear embossing powder on a sentiment banner cut with dies from My Creative Time.
