My dad was a collector of old cars. He had 2 Model T Fords, a Model A Ford and a 1929 Packard (which was his pride and joy). Dad didn't just save the cars for occasional driving. My sisters, brother and several of the neighbor kids used to get to go out for ice cream in the 1923 Model T on a regular basis. Dad wasn't afraid of kids sticky fingers-he just wanted us all to have fun! We decided, once dad could no longer take care of the cars, that we would buy the 1923 Model T from dad. It hadn't run in a decade or so and was badly in need of restoration. In the more recent years, dad had put all of his time and energy into getting his Packard ready to sell, so the other cars were kind of neglected.
My husband has struggled to figure out on his own how to get the Model T running, since dad's memory his last few years was a bit foggy and he couldn't really help in the matter of getting the car running. We inherited several boxes full of books and manuals, which have proven very helpful. We took a trip over to middle Ohio this summer and as my sister was taking us to a local aviation museum, we passed by a store whose name I recognized as one of the Model T parts stores that my dad had used. We stopped on the way back to my sister's and bought some parts. My husband has it running now, but it still needs a lot of work! See all of the smoke?
I needed a card for my nephew's birthday. I know that he will like this card because it will remind him of his grandpa.
I used the sketch from My Favorite Things. I flipped it and used a border stamp instead of a scallop so it would be more masculine.
Recipe: Bo Bunny Mama-razzi 6x6 pad, My Favorite Things Jumbo Mod Borders and Travel stamp sets, Memento Tuxedo Black ink, Distress Ink Black Soot, Spellbinders Nestabilities Labels Four, Buttons Galore and More, Glue Dots, Scotch ATG adhesive, Jute from stash, Recollections card stock
