Hi friends! Welcome to Julie's blogoversary blog hop celebrating her 1 year anniversary of the creation of her blog. You should have arrived here from
Paula's blog. If you came to my blog through another means, or if you get lost along the hop, you should go to
Julie's blog to start the hop and for the entire list of blogs.
This is also my Unity Friends with Flair post.
***There is blog candy on many of the blogs, so read each blogger's instructions on how to be eligible to win. My blog candy is listed at the end of my post.
Julie chose Celebrate Friendship as her theme, which is an awesome theme, since in the papercrafting world we are all pretty much friends, right? After all, who else would understand our love of paper, adhesive, bling, stamps, ink, and whatever other media and supplies we can get our hands on?
I "met" Julie over at
Crop Chocolate, a deal-a-day website that is also a great community of crafters of all different levels. Questions are usually answered by many talented and willing "instructors."
Julie always seemed so cheerful and upbeat and although we have not met in person (yet!), it was hard not to picture her smiling through the miles that separate our home towns. When she asked me if I would join in her Celebrate Friendship blog hop, I couldn't refuse, even though I was a bit intimidated by the thought of all of you talented crafters hopping over to see my cards. I have only been making cards for about a year and I never made it to any Stampin' Up or Close to My Heart gatherings, so my confidence level is not too high!
But friends support each other and this is about helping a friend celebrate her 1st year of having a blog and her growth as a crafter/artist. Happy Blogoversary, Julie! I wish you many more years of creating! Lets get to the celebration!
My first card was inspired by a tutorial on Split Coast Stampers (
Splitcoaststampers Quilted card) about paper piecing to create a quilted look. I feel like all of my friends are like pieces of a patchwork quilt. Each friend has a place in my life and all together, they help make my life a beautiful ride! This wasn't that hard by following the tutorial. Also, I have helped quilt when my mother-in-law used to quilt.
I used Winterland 6x6 paper by Fancy Pants, Sizzix Ornate Flowers embossing folder (used after making "the quilt", Tombow adhesive and my ATG adhesive gun, ribbon from Ribbon Carousel, Unity stamp, Tim Holtz Distress Ink Victorian Velvet and Fired Brick, white and burgundy cardstock.
I was so excited this week when I opened my mailbox and found the
Creative Inspirations Paint that I had ordered! I stamped my
Unity Stamp Co.-Face the Sunshine image with Stazon Black ink on watercolor paper and heat set it. I then got my (Crayola) water colors, Staedtler water color pencils and started painting. Once my image was dry, I got out my new Creative Inspirations Paint in Blush, Mellow Yellow, Chocolate and Winter Frost and began highlighting areas of the painted image. These paints are great for highlighting parts of your project. They add color and a little shimmer. My friend Rebecca introduced these paints to me from some of her awesome projects on her blog. She gave me some great pointers on how to use them. Thanks!

I also used True Friends 6x6 paper by Carta Bella, Tim Holtz Distress Ink in Walnut Stain and Broken China, Queen and Co. Rhinestones and ribbon from my stash, more Tombow adhesive and my Scotch ATG gun. The sentiment is from Unity-I thought it goes well with the theme. I am entering this card in Unity's weekly
